On the Anna Salai in Saidapet, a new divider was placed a month back is well known. Point is old divider has not been removed till now. Information collected is these dividers are placed parallel on the busy and congested arterial road. These dividers are creating confusions in the minds of many motorists now. On the stretch opposite to the metro station in Saidapet, nearly 2 lakh vehicles regularly ply.

It must not be forgotten that 6 years back a portion of the road was barricaded for the construction of metro rail. The divider was moved for the free vehicular movement. After the metro rail network, the barricades were removed but the divider stayed put in the altered spot.

It must be noted that by this the stretch in front of the metro station is 9 m wide when compared to the other side. This has resulted in frequent traffic congestion on the stretch connecting T. Nagar and Nandanam. A new divider has been constructed by the state highways department splitting the road equally. Point to be noted is on completion this divider was supposed to be merged with the existing divider at the traffic signal near the automobile show room.

It has been more than a month since the new divider was placed but the old divider has also been present here. This has resulted in a lane like scenario in the middle of the road. There is a government veterinary hospital and some vehicles take U turn near this hospital use this lane and end up driving in the wrong direction. This was according to a resident belonging to Todd Hunter Nagar in Saidapet.

He spoke about how there was no clarity regarding entering the road connecting the main road to Todd Hunter Nagar. He added that the traffic signal was located at the middle of these lanes.

The important information is the electric poles, traffic signal and lamp post have been shifted near the new divider and the old divider would be removed by the end of July. It is worthy to mention that Saidapet is an important locality in the Chennai city and is a home for many schools and colleges.
