TNPSC Group -1 Main exam commenced yesterday - 9441 candidates for 181 posts!

The Group-1 category Main Examination, Conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) for several vacant posts including Assistant Collectors, Police DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police), etc., commenced yesterday (Friday, 12th July).
9441 candidates are writing this examination to compete for the 181 vacant recruitments.
Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission had announced the vacancies for posts under the Group-1 Category as under on 1st January this year
- Assistant Collectors -27
- Deputy Superintendent of Police – 90
- Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Taxes) – 18
- Assistant registrar for Cooperative Unions – 13
- District Registrar – 7
- Assistant Director (Rural Development Department) – 15
- District Job-opportunities Officer – 8
- District Officer for the Fire-fighting Department – 3
The preliminary examination for the above Group-1 category vacancies was conducted on 3rd March. 168549candidates participated. The results of this preliminary examination were announced on 3rd April. 9441 candidates were successful in the preliminary examination.
The Main examination under Group-1 category for the above successful candidates commenced yesterday. On the 1st day yesterday (Friday, 12th July), the 1st question paper was on General Knowledge. It was conducted from 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM.
In Tamil Nadu, this main examination for Group-1 category was conducted only in Chennai Metro City. 95 examination centres were set up. 9441 candidates participated in the Main Examination.
In order to prevent any misdeeds, TNPSC officers and flying squads were vigilant and monitored and conducted sudden check.
Further, heavy police deployment was done for maximum safety.
Today (Saturday, 13th July), the 2nd question paper on General Knowledge will be conducted. Tomorrow (Sunday, 14th July), the examination will be the 3rd Question Paper on General Knowledge.
