Posted on: 04/Jul/2019 12:55:13 PM
The Police Department in Anna Nagar have started sending the receipts of the penalty charges imposed for violating traffic rules to the offenders’ residences!

In a recent observation, the Chennai High Court had indicted the lethargy of the Police Department on the issue of traffic rules violations.

The Chennai High Court was severe especially after the wearing of the helmet was made compulsory.

The High Court was even more severe and informed that penalties will be imposed on the police staff who do not/did not any actions on those who indulge in traffic rules violations such as not wearing helmet, etc.

Subsequent to the strict observations by the Chennai High Court as above, the traffic police have expedited their activities regarding this issue. They imposed penalty on all those who did not wear helmets while riding on 2-wheelers. A point to note is that penalties are imposed even if one of the 2 riders on the 2-wheelers is not wearing the helmet!

In this situation, the police have started sending the penalty receipts to the residences of the offenders of traffic rules violation!

Hi-tech monitoring cameras have been set up in Anna Nagar which can capture the vehicle registration number of the offending vehicles. Through this, the residential address of the traffic rule violators can be accessed! So, the police are now sending the receipt of the penalty imposed to the concerned residential addresses of the traffic rule violators!
