Chennai-Thiruvallur High Road has always got heavy traffic is known. The important piece of information that has come out now is the state government had recently approved the DFR or Detailed Feasibility Reports for the 3 flyovers that would come up in the Chennai- Thiruvallur High or CTH Road. An amount of Rs 850 crores would be spent on these 3 flyovers and it is now said that this amount would include the cost of land acquisition also. This has been confirmed by the source belonging to the highways department.

It must be taken into account that the flyovers would have 4 lanes and these 4lane wide flyovers would be built at the Korattur Road junction, Vanagaram Road junction and Mount Poonamallee Avadi Road junction. Important information gathered now is the works on the 22 km stretch between Padi and Thiruninravur would help to reduce travel time on the busy road. It is well known that this road has been used by many heavy vehicles and motorists etc.

An official belonging to the department of highways opened about how the government had already taken efforts to widen the road into a 6-lane facility. He also hinted about the land acquisition that is getting speeded up. After the completion of the flyovers, the traffic would be taking the road. It is important to note that the flyover at the junction of MountPoonamallaa Avadi Road and CTH Road would be 1.9 km in length. It was later pointed out by an engineer who is involved in this project that designing of the structures would be carried out and land acquisition process would be initiated.

The engineer spoke about the importance of additional lands and said that at the points where flyovers would come up additional lands would be needed on the sides for 2-lanewide service lanes. The land requirement might not be that much since already widening of the road is taking place. To prevent the traffic jams from taking place, the roads must be widened enough. This must be carried out before the construction of the flyovers. This was according to the residents.

The point here is the road runs through several residential areas and a couple of industrial estates and has busy markets in many localities. Information collected is the residents were worried about encroachments and parking of the vehicles on the road. Previously this Chennai Thiruvallur High Road or CTH was known as Madras Thiruvallur High Road or MTH is well known.
