The latest news is the school education department has reverted to the offline admission process for admitting the students under the RTE or Right to Education Act quota in this year. The reason for this is due to lack of software and other support systems. It must be noted that earlier the school education department planned an end to end to online mode for admission of students under the RTE quota.

On Wednesday, 29th of May 2019, directorate of matriculation education issued an announcement about the offline admission process as the above mentioned mode of end to end to online mode of admission of students were not feasible. On 31st May, admission to special category children like orphans, kids of sanitary workers would take place. This was as per the announcement. To issue orders to the parents, the chief educational officers or CEO’s were given instructions.

At the CEO offices, the students would be given allotment orders and this would be under the offline system. It is said that after collecting the orders the parents must approach the concerned headmaster or principal for admission. On the same day, various certificates such as community certificates, income certificates and other related certificates would be verified and the headmasters must admit the children. It was mentioned in the circular that the CEO should issue allotment orders to the applicants on31st May.

The important point is if the number of applications is more and seats are less the district officials must arrange for the lottery system at the concerned school on 6th June. It is revealed that one representative from school, school principal and 2 parents must be available while drawing the lots.

The amazing piece of news is in this year under the RTE quota as many as 1.21 lakh seats are available and the school education department had received as many as 1.20 lakh applications through online. The officials pointed out that out of the total 1.20 lakh applications just 1.13 lakh applications were found eligible. It has been brought to light that as many as 7000 applications were rejected due to repetitions and lack of documents. Important point to be noted is CBSE schools participated in the RTE admissions for the very first time.

It is worthy to mention that the private schools are tagged to GIS maps and once parents register their address, schools that are present within 1.5 km radius from their residences would show up on the screens.
