In Chennai metro stations, the parking spaces are full now with many vehicles parked. As a result of this, CMRL is earning nearly Rs 1.92 lakh per month as parking revenue. In Vadapalani metro station as many as 1821 vehicles get parked in a day and CMRL has been earning very high amount from this metro station. It is now revealed that this Vadapalani metro station has become topper in the list. Next is Alandur metro station with as many as 915 vehicles parked on average.

Here many working professionals park their vehicles and this metro station has got lot of takers.
With an average of 723 vehicles parked on daily basis, Koyambedu metro station is in the 3rd position. As per an official belonging to CMRL it is clear that people coming from Maduravoyal or Nolambur park their vehicles in Koyambedu metro station and then take train to reach their places of destination. Next in the list of metro stations yielding high parking revenue is Thirumangalam metro station that with an average of 613 vehicles.
Just few months back the stretch from Washermenpet to AG-DMS was opened and it made news. It is now said that initially this stretch was not preferred by the commuters for parking their vehicles. The things have changed now and many commuters now ask for monthly parking pass for these 2 metro stations. This was confirmed by an official of CMRL. It must be taken into account that these 2 areas did not have many facilities for parking the vehicles.
