By December, flyover on GST Road at Pallavaram to be completed

The traffic snarls at Pallavaram on the GST Road would come to an end soon and the motorists could feel happy now. The news that has come out now is the construction of 1.53 km 3-lane uni-directional flyover at Pallavaram on the GST Road that has been responsible for many traffic issues and also in causing huge stress to the motorists is likely to be completed by the end of this year 2019.

It must be noted that 37 deck slabs have been constructed out of total 47 deck slabs and the work on the remaining six deck slabs is under progress. Officials belonging to the Highway department revealed that out of 4 obligatory spans that come up over the junctions, two spans namely English Electricals and Old Sandhai Road were finished. At the Pammal junction, one span is under progress now.

An official explained about how simultaneously work on the approach ramp on the Chennai side has started and would take up to 4 months to be over. The official finally hinted about the commencing of ramp on the other side. Some earth work is required and it needs to settle. This was also confirmed by the official. Vehicles from Tambaram side would be able to proceed to the airport by this Rs 82.66 crores facility. The point is the department has been able to speed up the work now after many hurdles. Based on the new schedule, the department had asked the contractor to finish the work.

It was later pointed out by an official that there were few issues pertaining to the land availability and sand availability for construction. He explained how the road witnesses huge traffic and how diverting traffic was a tough task. He threw light on the Old Trunk Road and Old Sandhai Road that were improved and about the proper traffic diversion that was done just 6 months ago. Official finally thanked the police department for their role.

A motorist who travels frequently on the GST Road to Tambaram expressed his thoughts and spoke about how the traffic diversions have been responsible for the improved vehicular movement.
