Free midday meals for 500 persons at Chennai Egmore Childrens Hospital

Free midday meals is served daily for 500 persons in the Chennai Egmore Children’s Hospital.
Over 7000 children are being given treatment in as inward patients in this children’s health hospital.
On behalf of the medical administration, nutritious food is served to the children 4 times a day in the morning, noon and night. The persons who stay with the children buy food outside.
In this situation, on behalf of the Akshayapatra Endowment Board, free midday meals is served for 500 persons - the parents or guardians of the children being treated as in-ward patients/
When enquiring about this to the Director of the Hospital, Dr Arasar Seeralar, he shared:
‘The poor children throughout Tamil Nadu get treated in the children hospital, The children are served food from the hospital itself. However, the people staying with the children either visit the ‘Amma Unavagam’ in the hospital or buy food from outside. The citizens belonging to Chennai prepare food and bring. As the Akshayapathram Endowment has come forward to provide free midday meals for 500 people, especially, the people who have come other areas away from Chennai are extremely benefited by this arrangement.
