A new website was inaugurated yesterday (Friday, 22nd February) by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palanisamy for registering the house rental contract/agreements under the rental house Act.

A legal Act, to regularize the rental contracts/agreements for houses, was passed on the year 1960 in Tamil Nadu and still being followed.

However, certain changes are required in this Act and the related procedure in the present times as more than 50 years have passed considering the welfare of both the landlord (house owner) and the tenant.

In this situation, as per the emphasis from the central government, Tamil Nadu House Rent facility Act – 2017 was devised. Now, the state government of Tamil Nadu has undertaken the activities to implement this Act. Accordingly, the contract/agreement by owners of the property and the tenant must be registered in the office of the Rent Control Commission.

The Chief Minister, E. Palanisamy, inaugurated the new website www.tenancy.tn.gov.in devised by the Department of housing facility and urban development yesterday (22nd February).

The rental contracts/agreements can also be registered in the state government E-service centres as well.

The Chief Minister released a book on this occasion for the public facility regarding the above Act. The 1st Print of the book was received by the Deputy Chief Minister, O. Panneerselvam.
