Posted on: 11/Mar/2013 2:15:25 PM
The holiday family courts are turning out to be a burden to women lawyers. The Women Lawyers’ Association (WLA) has appealed to the Chief Justice (Acting) of the Madras High Court to do away with the holiday family courts and retain regular family courts.

The holiday family courts were introduced in 2010 by the then M.Y. Eqbal to enable working people to attend court proceedings without compromising on their work hours.

However, women lawyers say that they too have families and would like to spend the weekends at home instead of the courts, their workplace.
