Tejas Express slashes journey period by 30 min

The Railway Board has come up with a super-exciting update to the eager commuters: the overall travel time of Tejas Express that connects Chennai and Madurai which is soon to be functional will probably get cut by half an hour. Railway Board had rolled out a notification in this regard where it is stated that the Tejas Express which is the very first semi-high speed AC train in India shall leave Egmore sharp at 6 am and arrive at Madurai at 12.30 p.m.

Stoppage and Timing

Tiruchirapalli and Kodaikanal Road will be the two commercial stoppage for the train. There will also be 2-minutes stoppage at Kodai Road junction and Tiruchy. Coming on to the return journey from Madurai to Chennai, the train would leave Madurai at 3 pm and arrive at Chennai Egmore junction at 9.30 pm. For 2 minutes, the train would halt at the Kodai Road junction which will be at 3.28 pm followed by Trichy junction at 4.50 pm and then leave from there at 4.52 pm.

In a week, the train will be operated for about 6 days while the only non-operational day will be Thursday. Chennai Egmore station shall have the complete control over the primary maintenance, and RBPC (Round Trip Brake Power Certificate). Note: these trains will be functional throughout the day and have a mini form of maintenance which will be for 2 hours.

The train

The train shall have a total of 15 coaches having facilities such as CCTV camera, Wi-Fi connectivity, cozy seating, modular toilets, and 12 AC chair coaches, first-class chair car, and finally, 2 generator varns.

It is to be remembered that the earlier announcement by the Railway board had said that the train would travel for 7 long hours for arrival.
