BASE celebrates birth centenary of Dr. BGL Swamy

Bangalore, February 7th, 2019: In a bid to honour the contributions of Dr. BGL Swamy in the fields of botany, art and literature, BASE Educational Services Pvt Ltd recently celebrated the ‘Shatamaanotsava’ of Prof Swamy to mark his 100th birth anniversary at their Basavanagudi premises. Dr. BGL Swamy, a visionary and a respected teacher, inspired lakhs of young minds with his work, life, books and values and made the world realize the importance of greenery by propagating his motto ‘greenery is gold’.
Addressing the students, Dr. K N Ganeshaiah (Dean, PG-Studies, GKVK), who was the keynote speaker at the event said “I admire BGLS’s humility, rationality and witty take on life”. Also present at the event was Dr C R Nagendran (Professor of Botany & associate of BGL Swamy) who shared his experiences with Dr Swamy at Manasgangothri , Mysore where Dr Swamy spent his last few years .
Many other learned personalities who were present and who knew Prof Swamy closely, talked about him as the human, teacher and scientist that he was and his love of botany, his unbridled and unbound enthusiasm for work, his literary skills and non-judgmental nature.
Acknowledging the influence BGLS’s life and work had on youngsters, Dr H S Nagaraja, Founder BASE said “I admire his simplicity, qualities as a writer, musician and his value systems. His high regard for academics and his humility in not being overwhelmed by formal honours was very appreciable”.
