Posted on: 25/Jan/2019 11:37:02 AM
It is gathered that the polio vaccination camp which was to be organised on 3rd February in Tamil Nadu is now postponed due to the shortage polio vaccination medicine.

Children in the age group of 1 to 5 years administered with polio drops every year to prevent polio attacks. In this situation, due to the shortage of polio vaccine, the polio administration camp scheduled on 3rd February is now postponed.

The central ministry of Health and Family welfare had recently sent a letter to all states except Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Kerala. It mentioned that the polio administration camps scheduled have to be postponed due to unavoidable reasons. The new dates for the polio administration camps will be announced later.

Meanwhile, the state Health Minister Vijayabhaskar shared information while he was in the Pudhukkottai district: ‘As the central government’s vaccine technology team has not announced the dates for organizing the polio vaccination camps, the same stands postponed. The state government is not responsible for this situation.’

In this situation, the senior officials of the central health department have explained that the shortage of polio vaccination medicine is the main reason for this postponement. They explained that actions have already been initiated to expedite the procurement of polio vaccination medicine. However, the ministry has claimed that the reason given is wrong. It has informed that there are sufficient stocks of polio vaccination medicine and they will be despatched soon.
