Jio and BSNL the only two telecom to add on new subscribers in October

In last October, the telecom leader Reliance Jio had kick-started a rapid subscription race among all its 1.05 crore subscribers. This was followed by BSNL and there were substantial dip in overall subscription base later.

The increase in overall subscription base for Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio was 26.27 crore. It was 25.22 crore in September, says data sourced from the Telecom Regulators’ Authority of India.

On the whole, there is 0.6 percent surge in wireless subscription encompassing CDMA, LTE and GSM. It was 116.92 crore in September 2018 and grew to 117 crore in October, says TRAI sources.

In the urban areas, there is increase in wireless subscription. While it was 647.70 millino by September 2018 end, it grew till 648.24 million by October 2018 end.

As far as the rural areas are concerned, the increase is from earlier 521.59 million to 521.77 million.

Following Jio, the only telecom provider to see hike in overall subscription base is BSNL. There is an increase by about 3.64 lakh subscribers and has increased its overall subscription count to 11.34 crore.

Vodafone India which is presumably the largest operator with a lot of subscibers and revenue has now lost its overall customer base down to 42.76 crore, say data reports.

The total subscription base of Bharti Airtel pertaining to the end of October was 34.16.
