Reliance Jio testing VoWi-Fi Service, soon make WiFi calls

Reliance Jio has been one of the leading, dominant and prominent telecom service providers in India.
Presently, Reliance Jio is testing a new service – known as VoWi-Fi (Voice Over Wi-Fi). Information is gathered that this new facility/service may be officially announced in the next few months by Reliance Jio.
Earlier, information had leaked regarding Reliance Jio’s testing of VoWi-Fi. However, as the testing activities have been started again, it can be expected that an official release of the service may be made shortly.
In information released by ‘Telecom Talk’, it is mentioned that Reliance Jio may be currently testing the VoWi-Fi service in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
It is also informed that Reliance Jio is carrying out similar testing of VoWi-Fi in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, and other states. A ‘screenshot’ depicting the Jio Wi-Fi usage has been shared on the internet. Jio Wi-Fi is very clearly seen here. Accordingly, it is possible that Reliance Jio might be releasing its Wi-Fi service very shortly.
It is probable that Reliance Jio might have planned to release the commercial service of its Wi-Fi facility during 2019. In the 1st Phase of this plan, the service may be introduced exclusively within Jio network and then later extended to other networks. Besides, this service might be provided in other Jio phones apart from the smartphones.
As one-third of phones sold in the Indian Feature Phone Market is from Jio, it might be expected that after the release of the Wi-Fi service, the sales of Jio phones may go up even further!
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had recommended the Wi-Fi service. With this facility, the cell phone users can make voice calls through the Wi-Fi. Thus, calls may be made/received even in the situation without the network facility.
Information is also gathered that just as Reliance Jio, the other competitors as telecom service providers, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone have also been carrying out testing/trials of VoWi-Fi facility.
