Electric sanitary napkin incinerators in Chennai government schools

In order to improve better hygiene conditions in government schools the educational department has planned to introduce electric sanitary napkin incinerators within a month’s time. Girls studying in Chennai government schools can dispose their napkins by using this machine making sure the environmental and health improvement in public schools for students.

The kind of machines were already installed in 13 districts of Tamil Nadu and now the order has been passed to install incinerators in all girls-only and co-education public schools of Chennai. The Principal secretary of education department has confirmed the government order and informed that the project will be completed on a due course within a month.

State government has allotted 14 crores for the project of installing electric incinerators for napkin dispose in all government schools. The department has delivered 1,520 machines to various schools in 13 districts of the state with 1,136 official installations that were already completed. Districts such as Villupuram, Cuddalore, Nagapatinam, Tiruvarur and other nine districts started the usage of the machines in government schools. Also the order mentioned that the respective schools has to bear the maintenance cost of the machines.

Though the initiative is gaining lot of encouragement some of the school students from various government schools has mentioned the poor maintenance of the machines without any kind of regular servicing or repair making it unusable. Greater Chennai Corporation has to address such issues to repair the machines and strictly instruct the schools to maintain the machines in working conditions.
