Acid attack and burns victims could get free hair transplant at SMCH, Chennai

Ever since it was established in the year 1938, Stanley Medical College or SMC in Chennai has been doing superbly in the field of medical education. Acid attacks and burns on a person could lead to damage of their hairs and this could create an embarrassing situation for the victim. These victims go for hair transplants to get back their hairs. This hair transplantation is a high cost procedure is known and not would be able to afford it.

The superb news is these acid attack and burns victims need worry about their hairs loss anymore. It is now revealed that on Friday, 7th December 2018, the government Stanley Medical College Hospital or SMCH had began a procedure and according to this procedure the above mentioned victims could get hair transplanted free of cost. Dean of SMCH, Mr. S. Ponnambala Namasivayam, had inaugurated a 3 day live hair transplant workshop for the acid attack and burns victims at the SMCH. Dr. Ramadevi, head of plastic surgery department, SMCH, expressed her thoughts about the hair transplantation process. She spoke about how the workshop is the beginning of the hair transplant procedures that plastic surgery department of SMCH would be doing. She added that by this workshop many doctors would be trained in the hair transplantation surgery. She finally threw light on creating awareness among the people regarding hair transplantations and wanted the people to know that hair transplantations would be done free of cost in SMCH.

The department of plastic surgery of SMCH has been doing deformities correction procedures like neck extension etc for many years. The operation theatre in the hospital is equipped with high class equipments needed for hair transplantation surgery. One important point is hair transplantation costs one lakh to three lakh in a private hospital and many people would be in a position to afford for that. The head of plastic surgery department of SMCH brought out that the surgeries would be done under the Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme of the chief minister.

In the city of Bengaluru is present Atijeevan Foundation and this foundation has been doing superbly in rehabilitating acid attack survivors. In the workshop held at SMCH, Pragya Prasun of Atijeevan Foundation expressed her views. She spoke about how there are many acid attacked victims who do not know whether hair transplant comes under cosmetic and plastic surgery. She then added that eyelashes, eyebrows and hairline is important for acid attack and burns victims as these would make their appearance better. The important information is Atijeevan Foundation would refer victims across India to this SMCH, Chennai for hair transplantation procedure. Dr. Ramadevi finally threw light on how not only acid attacked and burns victims could get benefited but also many cancer survivors could get benefited by the hair transplantation in SMCH.
