Honda inaugurates ITI alliance in Chennai to empower local youth

In a step towards contributing to skill development of the youth, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. recently inaugurated the ‘Honda Skill Enhancement Centre’ in Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Chennai.

The ‘Honda Skill Enhancement Centre’ in Chennai ITI will provide industry specific education to students for development of job-oriented skills. The industrial training will be imparted to the students in fully functional service workshops set up under the alliance. 

Honda will provide authenticplatform to students for practisingtrade specific skills on various aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair under the partnership. This will enable the students to get a hands-on experiential learning and be prepared for jobs.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Directorate of Training and Technical Education (DTTE)Tamil Nadu, Honda will provide units of two-wheelers (both scooter & motorcycle) to each institute.

Speaking on the tie-up, Mr Pradeep Pandey, Senior Vice President, Customer Service, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said “The Indian automotive industry is at the onset of a paradigm shiftas deadline for BSVIis approaching fast. To commit to the standards laid down under the norms, the industry needs to contribute in generating technicalskilled manpower.Honda’s MoU with DTTE, is a step towards building the future of students striving to gain industry relevant skills. This will not just increase their employability but also offer qualified candidates to the industry. Honda will collaborate with more ITIsin future to further empower the youth.”

The tie-up is expected to benefit over 150young students of the townin a single year. Onthe completion of training, Honda will also provide recruitment opportunities to candidates at Honda dealerships.
