Prices of vegetable go up in Chennai

As the quantity of vegetable arriving in Chennai Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market has somewhat reduced, the prices of the vegetables have gone slightly up.
The traders informed that due to the rains just before the harvest, the vegetables were submerged in rainwater and thus the yield of vegetables reduced to a certain extent. Thus, the quantity of vegetables arriving at the Chennai Koyambedu vegetable market has become lesser.
Subsequently, the prices of the vegetables have gone slightly up as compared to the last week.
Onions, which were sold at Rs. 15 per kg, is now sold at Rs. 25 per kg. Beans, which was sold at Rs. 30 per kg, is now sold at Rs. 35 per kg. Broad beans, which was sold at Rs. 35 per kg last week, is sold at Rs. 50 per kg.
Brinjal is sold at Rs. 10 per kg. Potato and radish are sold at Rs. 15 per kg. Tomato price has gone up by Rs. 5 per kg. The prices of small onion, lady’s finger, cabbage, drumstick and yam have not changed.
