With the bustling sounds and non-stop activity on the roads of central Chennai, Mylapore offered a wonderful place for contrasting the chaos with Sri Ramakrishna Math. The math houses many saints and devotees of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Swami Vivekananda.
The place works purely based on the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna and his important disciples. It is open to all who are in need of a place for meditation or contemplation of god or universe.
In the year 1897 Swami Vivekananda stayed in Chennai while his return from the west before reaching the home town of Calcutta. Following the devotees request the Math was established by the primary disciples of the Bengal saint, Sri Ramakrishna. The place houses for in-house tour, meditation center and a book store enclosing all the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Vivekananda and Swami Ramakrishnananda.
