Lawyers will boycott proceedings on 19th Feb

The Madras High Court Advocates Association will lead a state-wide boycott on 19th of February in which lawyers will stay away from proceedings.
The boycott is in protest to the 2009 attack on lawyers by policemen inside the premises of the Court. ‘(The) February 19 incident should be seen as an assault on the independence and sovereignty of the entire judiciary. This time we will call upon the TN government and the Supreme Court to take expeditious decision on the issue, instilling confidence in the minds of the legal fraternity’, said Mr. S. Prabhakaran, President of Tamil Nadu Advocates Association.
