Chennai has the finest archeological feather in its rich heritage cap housed across the elegant Pantheon Complex, a British built collection of various historical findings. The big highlight of the museum is the bronze gallery of 7th century Pallava dynasty and other such widespread kingdoms of South India.

The late Chozha period falls between the 9th and 11th centuries flourishing in southern peninsula of India. During this period the bronze sculpturing took a revolutionary growth with the huge temples built all over the region. Ardhanarishwara and Natarajar statues are some of the main collections from the great Chozha dynasty.

Starting from 2nd century B.C Buddhist sculptures to 16th century Vijayanagara dynasty works the main archeological galleries are filled with the historically rich collections. Devoted rooms are placed for Hindu, Buddhist and Jain sculptures. The Building 2 represents the South Indian human history from the pre-historic period with various collections of historical evidences of human civilization.

National Art Gallery, Contemporary Art Gallery and Children’s Museum can be enjoyed with the same ticket.
