Heavy rains expected today in the Ghat areas (TN Weatherman)

Mini wet spell at Cauvery Catchment and Ghat regions of Valparai and Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu, and today too heavy rains can be expected in the Ghat areas of Valparai, Nilgiris, Theni and Kanyakumari.

I would not call it as the 4th wet spell of the monsoon. The picture shows the low moving in via Odisha into the core monsoon zone but it just moving into Madhya Pradesh instead of Telangana, Vidarbha and Maharashtra. Had it moved little lower then monsoon would be activated in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. But the monsoon low fizzles on Thursday.
4th monsoon Spell to get started from 13/14th of this month

The good news is next monsoon low again forms in Odisha and next good spell will start around 13/14th of August. It wont be a massive spell like the 3rd spell, Still decent rains can be expected on daily basis in Ghats and Cauvery catchment. See the OLR map for reference. A separate post on that later.
