Changes in the academic qualification for computer teachers in government schools

The state government of Tamil Nadu has decided to the eligibility of the academic qualification for the recruitment of computer science teachers in the government schools.
Plans are afoot to recruit computer science teachers immediately in the government higher secondary schools as per the changed eligibility rules.
There are 6000 schools functioning under the control of the state government’s department of education. Presently, 2000 computer science teachers are working in the schools in the various districts. However, there is a severe shortage for computer science teachers in several districts.
In this situation, the Directorate of school education decided a year ago to appoint a computer science teacher each in 748 government schools. However, as per the revised new syllabus, a new subject – ‘Computer applications’ for the art students and ‘computer technology’ for the industrial technology students have been included.
As these 2 subjects are very important, there is an emergency situation where the computer sciences teachers must be recruited immediately. To meet this demand, it has been decided to change the eligibility condition for the academic qualification.
The higher officials of the state school education department have conducted a detailed review in this regard and sent an extensive report regarding the revised academic qualifications for the recruitment of computer science teachers for the state government approval.
Presently, the graduates specialized in computer science are recruited as computer trainers. However, these teachers are constrained to take classes for the students of +1 and +2 classes as well. As per the rules of school education, only post-graduate teachers in computer science are to be appointed as teachers to take classes for +1 and +2 class students.
Hence, after a detailed review, the change in the academic qualifications for the recruitment of school teachers for computer science has been made that only post-graduates in Computer Science with B. Ed. are to be recruited.
