New mobile App for registration of bus travel

A new mobile App is set to be introduced soon for booking bus travel. Almost 70% of the present buses in Tamil Nadu State government transport corporations had outlived and were operated in their very old condition. Now, the Transport Corporation has acquired a number of new luxury buses with many features even challenging the private transport operators. Apart from sleeping berth facility, toilet facility, and others, clean food is served in the category of ‘classical’ buses.

This latest development addition of the luxury buses by the state transport corporation has met with a hugely popular response. It is expected now that there would be a huge increase in the number of passengers booking to travel to the state transport corporation buses.

Though the facility to book online is available, most passengers prefer to visit the counters and book directly. As a mark of the welcome change, presently, there are long lines of the queue for bus travel booking, especially during the festive season. Hence, it has been planned to set up a new mobile app.

In this regard, the higher officials of the SETC explained that in order to facilitate the bus passengers for booking travel, the current online booking arrangement is to be modified and improved. Also, the new mobile App for bus travel booking on STEC will be introduced soon.

Poising a direct challenge to the competitors in the private travel sector, the STC has acquired ultra-modern buses with great additional features and facilities. The officials explained this that the 2 luxury buses each with facilities for sleeping berths, and air-conditioning will operate from Chennai to Madurai, Bodi, Salem, Gobi, Erode, Keezhakkarai, and Thoothukudi.

2 buses with sleeper berths will operate from Kovai to Bangalore. Ordinary buses with sleeping berths will operate from Chennai to Madurai. 2 Buses with sleeper berths, air-conditioning, and deluxe seats will be operated from Chennai to Karur.

2 ultra-deluxe buses each will be operated from Chennai to Erode and Dindigul.

A ‘Classic’ bus will operate from Chennai to Dindigul. 2 buses with sleeper berths will be operated from Chennai to Bangalore. A survey and analytical review will be conducted after observing the operation of these buses in 2 weeks.
