Soon the district of Chennai would be expanding

It has been more than seven months now after the state government announced that the district of Chennai would be expanded. The amazing piece of news is in the month of mid July the boundaries of Chennai would get wider.
To facilitate better coordination between civic body and district administration for performing many administrative activities, areas falling under Greater Chennai would be part of expanded Chennai district. In the nearby Kancheepuram district, the procedure to obtain the views of the officials on the choice of the district was completed successfully and this was confirmed by a source belonging to revenue department. A revenue officer spoke about how the government servants have given their option weather to work in Chennai or in Kancheepuram district itself. In the neighbouring Tiruvallur district the process is going on.
It must be noted that as per the plan as many as 67 revenue villages belonging to Alandur and Sholinganallur Taluks in Kancheepuram plus Ambattur, Madhavaram, Maduravoyal and Tiruvottiyur Taluks in Tiruvallur district would be combined with Chennai district. This would take the total number of expanded villages in Chennai district to 122 soon. In middle of July month, the state government would notify about the merger of the urbanised neighbourhood revenue villages. This was confirmed by the official sources.
A senior revenue department official hinted that on 15th July the above mentioned notification would take place. Presently the size of Chennai is 176 sq km and it would be increased to 426 sq km with all the 15 zones of GCC. An additional revenue divisional officer would also be making his presence felt soon.
On 1st of April itself the notification should have been issued but the state missed the target and this was due to the delay in completing the task of getting the opinions of the government staffs about their preferred place of work.
