Tomorrow is the last day to get 1 Lakh smart ration cards

It has been announced that tomorrow (Thursday, 28th June) is the last day for the ration card holders to get the 1 Lakh smart ration cards. For those interested in getting a fresh ration card in Tamil Nadu, an application has to be submitted online on the official website of PDS (Public Distribution System). Aadhar card number is mandatory. The smart ration card will be printed and sent to respective ration shop. SMS will be sent to the applicants’ mobile phone. As per all the SMS already sent, 1 Lakh ration card holders have not yet received their smart ration cards.
An official from the department of cooperative system and food explained in this regard that though up to 1 Lakh smart ration cards have been printed and sent to the respective ration shops, the cardholders have not collected the same so far. This will create the scope for the ration card shop staff to misuse the same. The ration card holders have to visit the respective ration shops and collect the smart ration cards before tomorrow (Thursday, 28th June). Failure to collect the smart ration card will lead to the cards being sent back to the Department of food.
