The Central External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, has introduced a new App called Passport Seva.

In case a person is interested in making a visit to any of the foreign country, the most essential item required is the passport. As things stand, it is not that easy to get a passport. One has to visit the passport office and submit all the requisite details asked for after which they will process the issue of passport. Then the police personnel from the police station nearest to your residence will verify the address and other data given in the passport application and then inform that the passport will be dispatched in 15 days. Some persons will receive as promised whereas some other would not get it and it will be delayed.

However, one need not worry anymore about all these cumbersome procedures. One can apply for the passport from wherever they are. The external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj has now introduced a mobile phone App with which the person can apply sitting in any nook and corner of the country.

The minister mentioned that once the police verification is completed on the address given in the passport application, the passport will be processed and sent by post. The minister observed that with this introduction of the new App, the passport procedure has become easy and quick.

The minister also informed that married women need not show the proof of marriage certificate when they apply for the passport. Also, the divorced women need not specify the name of their former husbands.
