These are the effective home remedies for insect bites

There are many insects around us. So the chances of getting bitten by these insects are high. It is highly essential that we take enough care and precaution so that we are not bitten by the insects.

It is said that insect bites take place when the insect is agitated and it tries to defend by the natural defence mechanisms.  Formic acid is injected in us when few insect bites and it could lead to highly uncomfortable condition in us. Sometimes dangerous allergic reaction termed anaphylaxis is stimulated when ants, bees, fire- ants bite us. It is worthy to note that the skin reaction to insects bites and stings might be present for few days.

There are few symptoms associated with an insect bite. They are pain, itching, redness, swelling, nausea, burning sensation etc. Insect bites could be treated at homes also.

There are few home based remedies that are superb for insect bites. They are

Ice pack application - This is one excellent way by which an insect bite could be treated at homes. Ice cubes are taken in a soft towel and this is placed over the affected area for a time of 10 minutes. This procedure is repeated many times for better results.

Honey application - Not only honey is liked by many for its sweet taste but also for its effectiveness in treating insect bites.  In the first step to two teaspoons of honey is added half a teaspoon of turmeric. This mixture is then applied on the affected portion and left for couple of hours. Then the affected area is washed well with water. This procedure is repeated twice daily for 2 or 3 days.

Application of onion - Onion is an important kitchen ingredient and is used in many dishes is known. It could also be used to treat a person with insect bite.  In the first step one teaspoon of onion juice is mixed with one teaspoon of lemon juice. Then cotton ball is dipped in this mixture and the ball is applied on the insect bitten portion. After 15 minutes the portion is washed well with water. This is repeated daily for 3 days.

Use raw garlic - Mostly used in many dishes this garlic is effective in treating insect bites also. In the first step 2 or 3 pods of fresh garlic is taken and crushed to make it a paste. Then it is applied on the affected area and left overnight. In the morning it is washed with water.
