MTC links suburbs of Chennai with new buses

Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) allocated additional buses for some of the suburban areas of Chennai owing to the growing demand of public transportation linking the mainland with outer areas of the city. Residential areas are wide spreading in suburbs as the real estate scenario in main spots inside the city already reached a saturated point of population and high cost.
Affordability plays a major role in suburban development of residential areas leading to extension of the city itself through various directions. This factor lead to demand of more buses in some of the residential and commercial areas.
In order to meet the demand dealt with the extended city MTC decided to cut the frequency of buses to certain areas and to re-route the transportation in suburban areas or the spots where there is less transportation facilities.
Some of the extended areas of Chennai such as Keezhkattalai, Madipakkam, Shollinganallur, Saligramam, Valasaravakkam and Muthapudupet in Avadi have gained some extra buses as per the re-allocation of MTC.
Several new routes to link the city with suburbs are commenced and also services to these areas are extended from the original destinations.
Frequency reduction of some buses are reported by the public, especially 5B (T.Nagar to Mylapore) which is one of the oldest routes of Chennai connecting commercial centers like Adyar and Mandaveli. Commuters report the reduction in frequency of the buses A51 (Tambaram West to Broadway), 45A (Velachery to Ice House), 3A (Mandaveli to Broadway), 51H (Tambaram to Saidapet) and 29N (Velachery to Perambur).
A rationalized routing system has been organized by MTC renaming some of the old routes and extending the transportation to the areas where availability of alternative transportations were certainly poor.
M1 (Thiruvanmiyur to Keezhkattalai) and 61C (Muthapudupet to Avadi Bus terminus) routes were extended and MTC introduced small bus service to Ullagaram and Puzhuthivakkam.
