Tomorrow holiday announced for Ramzan cancelled

As the Ramzan crescent could not be seen, the Tamil Nadu government’s Chief Haji has informed that Ramzan will be actually celebrated only on Saturday (16th June). Subsequently, the state government of Tamil Nadu also cancelled the holiday declared for tomorrow (Friday, 15th June) and declared Ramzan holiday on Saturday (16th June).

So, one of the most important festivals of the Muslims, Ramzan will be celebrated on Saturday, 16th June. Prior to Ramzan, the Muslims observe the 30 penance. Only after the 30 penance (nonbu in Tamil), Ramzan will be observed.

Muslims follow the lunar crescent system to celebrate Ramzan. In this situation, the nonbu or penance concludes tomorrow, Ramzan was declared on Friday and accordingly the state government also declared a holiday on Friday.

However, as the crescent could not be seen till the evening, the Tamil Nadu state government Chief Haji declared that the penance or nonbu will continue tomorrow (Friday as well) and Ramzan will be celebrated on Saturday (16th June).

Accordingly, the state government of Tamil Nadu cancelled the holiday declared on Friday and the schools will function as usual. A government order has been issued accordingly. The state government has declared a holiday on 16th June (Saturday) on Ramzan.
