IIT rejects the idea of lowering cutoff for admission

The results of the JEE-Advanced 2018 witnessed a big downfall in the overall pass percentage. However the examination authority decided against the current years clearing Candidates rate by not lowering the cutoff criteria for admissions to IITs.
Aditya Mittal, JEE chair of IIT Delhi confirmed the announcement of not lowering the cutoff, the decision accepted by the board authorities and will not be changed in any cause. The joint admission board (JAB) with all the director and top ranking officials of IITs held an emergency meeting regarding the IIT seats going vacant in the year 2018 coherent with the entrance exam results.
Under the simulated selection process the body of officials will clarify the last year seat allocation and then decide the ways to address the uniform placement of eligible Candidates in all the IITs of the country.
A simulated counselling session will be conducted by JAB to check upon the seat fillings and to verify the 11,279 seats admitted to the IITs without any form of bulk vacancies. JAB reports said that the analysis through simulation will provide enough data to consider the seat allocation methods to adopt for this year admissions. Though the board took a firm decision of not lowering the cutoff percentage the simulation can suggest a possible data in terms of candidates to vacancies ratio.
Totally 18,138 candidates cleared the JEE-advanced 2018 marking a seven year low when last ten years of entrance exams are considered into the account. The eligibility criteria was set in a way to finalize the eligible Candidates total number as double the amount of seats offered in the admissions. However this year the clearing percentage is only 1.6 times the total number of sets allocated influencing the JAB members to conduct the simulation counselling.
