June 14 marks to be the World Blood Donor Day often referred to as WBDD. Since 2004, as a way to encourage and spread awareness about blood donation, and as a sign of thanking donors, this day is annually celebrated.
WBDD is one among the global public health campaigns as determined by WHO.
The history behind
This day marks to be the birth anniversary of Kari Landsteiner a revered scientist and a Nobel Prize recipient for discovering ABO blood group system.
