CBSE Students of Tamil Nadu to grab more seats in Engineering Colleges

The performance of CBSE students in the Class 12 Examinations were far superior compared to other states. Kerala recorded the highest pass percentage in CBSE board exams of 2018 and Tamil Nadu holds the second position in national level. So there are high chances for CBSE students securing admissions in the top engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu.
Advanced Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for entry into IITs and NITs and National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) for nation level medical college admissions shown the reports of the state’s favor for CBSE students this year. Many critical insights from Academic Experts told the current scenario in College admissions were highly in favor of CBSE students as the internal affairs of the Tamil Nadu Government are still swindling back and forth influenced by the Central government without any rigid confirmation.
Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) portal received more than 7500 registrations from CBSE students across the state of Tamil Nadu. Last year it was 5500 applications for TNEA counselling and only 3000 in the year 2012.
Reports told 10 Percent of CBSE science students scored 90% or above marks in this year’s Class 12 Examinations. In Tamil Nadu State Board Science group only 3 percent of the Students grabbed 90 percent marks and above. This clearly implies that TNEA admission topper list will have more number of CBSE students this time when compared to the previous years of admission in Engineering Colleges affiliated to Anna University.
Many Parents transferred their Children from State Board to CBSE schools owing the entire credit to the confusions in the medical college admissions and other benefits associated in obtaining seats in top colleges of professional studies. This was considered to be one of the main reasons for this year’s domination of CBSE merit over State board results.
Mostly CBSE students apply for the Anna University Counselling when they were not sure of the results of the advanced JEE, NEET or any other entrance tests. There were several cases in which CBSE students pay the token advance of Rs 5000 in the counselling session and not joining the respective engineering colleges of Anna University. Once they obtain seats in IITs or other top institutions through entrance exams they fail to join the TNEA College they selected in the counselling session. This will make the seat vacant after all the counselling sessions are completed. Literally this attitude destroys an eligible TN State Board candidate’s opportunity in that particular college. So the top ranking students of TNEA applications may or may not join the respective allocated Colleges making a big systematic confusions in the future of deserving candidates of State Board Schools.
This year witnessed a sudden increase in migration of the Students from State Board to CBSE leading to imbalance in the TNEA shortlist. May Experts suggests a separate quota for other board students to join Anna University controlled or affiliated colleges and the TNEA will have to offer higher percentage of priority for State Board School Students.
The CBSE students scored high marks as the evaluation were very liberal owing to many central government’s influence and certain controversies. Also there were question paper leaks of CBSE board exaxams creating more scope for students to grab higher marks illegally. Though the CBSE board conducted re-exams for the leaked question papers, the evaluation procedure and re-exams question setting were very liberal told the Academic Experts of the state.
