According to an official belonging to transport department, drivers could take break by parking vehicles along the parking bays and these drivers could then talk over their mobile phones or address minor medical based issues etc. The official also confirmed that the break for drivers would be for few minutes and these drivers should park the vehicles beyond the yellow line marked on the side.

The shocking piece of information is in 2015-16 in the state of Tamil Nadu as many as 724 people lost their precious lives in 3020 road based accidents. The reason for those accidents was because of vehicles parked on the roadsides.

In the month of December in 2017, Madurantagam in TN witnessed an accident similar to the above mentioned is known.

It is worthy to mention that the National Highways Act 2002 restricts unauthorized parking of vehicles on the highways but effective implementation of this was not done.

State authorities sent a circular recently and instructed highway patrol teams to be strict in this regard of vehicles parking on the roadsides on the highways.

It is now confirmed by an official of highway department that amount of Rs 80 crores would be used to buy 80 new patrol vehicles and control rooms setting up.  In the state of TN there are as many as 270 highway patrols that keep control over 12000 km in the highways to prevent accidents.

An official spoke about how with the help of new vehicles uncovered areas in some districts could be monitored. The official also threw light on how these patrols have been instructed to help road accident people for fast medical help.

It is now revealed that truck owners raise questions regarding the availability of parking bays for the vehicles on the highways in the state of TN. Penalising drivers would be unfair without providing enough parking bays for them. This was confirmed by a driver named Arumugam.
