The strike by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation employees continues today (Saturday, 6th January).

Faced with the difficult task of finding an alternative transport facility, the public is put to great hardship indeed.

The employees of the Tamil State Transport Corporations have gone on protest demanding immediate action on the various issues including salary revision. The employees refused to accept the wage revision offered by the government. They have stopped the vehicles as and where they are and have gone on strike.

The strike started on Thursday (4th January) and has continued.  As the buses are not operated, the public has been put to great hardship.

The state government has initiated various activities to address the grievances of the employees of the State Transport Corporations.to find a solution.

Meanwhile, the Chennai High Court has banned this strike. It has warned that the employees not reporting for duty will be terminated.

In spite of the warnings given by the Chennai High Court, the employees of the state government transport corporation have continued their strike.

Only very few buses are being run in the other areas of Tamil Nadu. These few buses are heavily crowded. The public has to look for alternative transport. Naturally, the auto and shared-auto drivers charge in excess.
