Every year, we keep waiting for the monsoon to set in. There are colorful rainbows, pictures, blissful air and lot of water that we can enjoy during this season. Though the rain will be pleasant to you, there may be a lot of damages caused in the season as well. Particularly, if the home is not ready for monsoon, you may start receiving uninvited guests like mosquitoes and more! Some of the steps you may take to ensure fullest joy during monsoon are listed below here for you:

Waterproof your home:

This is very important if you live in a floor under the terrace, or if you have a balcony. Waterproofing keeps your home clean without letting water in or damage the walls. Walls that are exposed to rain should also be checked for possibilities of leakage. The wiring, paint and all the circuit works may get hit with the entry of water. When you waterproof your home, it can be kept dry and perfect.

Lightweight Fabrics:

Though it may seems very trivial, making use of light weight fabric in upholstery and windows in this season can bring a whole lot of difference. By covering your chairs, cushions and sofas with georgette, cotton or other linen based fabrics, apart from adding comfort, it can also add cleanliness and dryness. At the same time, during rainy days, it is easy to maintain drapes and curtains that are light in weight.

Have enough product supplies at home:

You may get trapped in your home for a long period when there is inundating rainfall for days. So, make sure that you drink enough water and other supplies such as raw materials needed for cooking and other supplies. All these should also be ensured for their validity. Medications, batteries and candles are also to be kept prepared as they can be helpful at times of long hours of power cut.

Keep a medical kit handy:

During monsoon season, it is very common to experience fever, cold or stomach problems. So, ensure to have suitable medicines that can ease such monsoon sickness. You may be prone to a number of health issues and infections due to the cold, wet weather, particularly in kids. Hence, it is always better to have a medical kit ready at your home. This should essentially contain emergency medicines for all the members of your family.

Insect-proof your home:

This is one more common problem during rainy days. Influx of insects, particularly mosquitoes is very common. You should manage with the trouble with the use of natural and artificial repellents. Make use of mesh and net in windows to disallow entry of such insects. You can thus prevent bites that may lead to infections and other vector-borne diseases like malaria or dengue.

Check the electric wiring:

If there are wires passing through your home from outside area, ensure that they are encased properly without getting in contact with water. When there is too much of lightning or thunderstorms, it is advisable to keep all the electronic devices switched off or unplugged so as to avoid mishaps like short circuits. With this, you can avoid a lot of unnecessary expenses o or harm.

Monsoon should be your period of enjoyment rather than being a period of difficulty. Take all the necessary steps to keep your home safe and secured ahead of the onset of monsoon so that you can relax and chill even if there is too heavy rain showers, thunderstorms or lightning without allowing your regular tasks.
