Digitisation deadline extended further till November 19

The deadline for the mandatory digitisation of cable television signals in Chennai was further extended, upto November 19, by the Madras high court on Today(Nov 09,2012).
Rejecting the claim that the deadline should be extended due to shortage of availability of STBs in the city, Raman said that for the past four months no cable had approached the Sun group for supply of STBs.
Senior central government standing counsel S Haja Mohideen Gisthi said the Centre was prepared to extend the last date till December 31 if an undertaking was given by the state government authorities that they would implement the DAS regime in Chennai within a time frame.
Though the DAS regime has come into force in the other three metros -- Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata -- from the midnight of October 31, in Chennai the deadline was extended by the high court initially upto November 5 and then upto November 9, and now upto November 19.
