Security beefed up on the Republic Day

Republic Day will be celebrated throughout the country tomorrow with much festivity. In view of this heavy security has been deployed in Tamil Nadu.
Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations tomorrow, the police have stepped up security to prevent untoward incidents. Nearly 1.12 Lakh police are being deployed throughout Tamil Nadu. Vital installations such as embassies and other places of prominence have been given adequate security. Railway stations, bus stands, shopping complexes, temples, churches, mosques and malls are also under the police scanner. The roads have been taken over by the police and special teams are carrying out vehicle checks and raids at lodges.
Around 15,000 police personnel will be on duty in Chennai. Additional police personnel have been stationed in the identified sensitive areas. 2000 armed police personnel will be stationed at the Marina beach road where the Republic Day functions are to be held.
