ICF manufactures coaches for unreserved with 10 modern facilities to make your travel comfortable.Integral Coach Factory is manufacturing coaches with 10 modern facilities including potable drinking water, mobile charging points and bio-toilets. 25 new coaches will be manufactured by ICF in the next 6 months and will be handed over to Southern Railway.
Indian Railways has been bifurcated into 16 zones. More than 14000 trains are being operated every day. 2.36 Crores people travel everyday throughout the country. Nearly 27 lakh tonnes freights are being handled. Railway is the important mode of travel. The new government has joined with private companies in improvising the facilities to rail passengers.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu during the railway budget had mentioned that the government will be soon introducing the unreserved coach with modern facilities. Now these coaches are being manufactured in Integral Coach Factory on Perambur. 350 coaches will be manufactured before the month of March.
An official of the ICF while speaking of the modern coach said: In every long distance express trains there will be a formation of four unreserved coaches. To improve quality of travelling in general class, ICF have started manufacturing coaches called Deen Dayalu during the last three months. This coach will have 10 modern facilities.
There will be 2000 litres of potable drinking water, bio-toilet, LED lighting, additional hand hold in doorway area, 22 mobile charging points, cushioned luggage racks, aqua guard-like facilities, fire extinguishers with anti-theft arrangement, toilet occupation indication display board and water-level indicator in the coach. Normally a coach can be manufactured at a cost of Rs 80 lakhs but to manufacture a Deen Dayalu coach an additional amount of Rs 10 lakhs is required. Before March we will be manufacturing 350 coaches. This will be shared amongst the 16 railway zones. We expect that Southern Railways will get 25 coaches.
