Flag hoisting ceremony at Thiruchendur Murugan Temple

Thiruchendur Murugan Temple is the second most temples among the six holy adobes of Lord Murugan. Avani Festival began yesterday with the hoisting of the flag. On the occasion of this, Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple, Thiruchendur was opened early in the morning at 1.30 am and Viswaroopa Aradhanai was performed to the deity. At 2 am Udayamartandam Abhishekam was performed. Devotees thronged the sanctum sanctorum in large numbers after taking a holy dip in the sea.
It was then followed by a flag hoisting ceremony at 5.20 a.m.Sandal paste was applied to the flag mast and priests offered abhishekam to the flagpole.
