Posted on: 20/Aug/2016 4:35:53 PM
With the entry of many new Chinese smartphone models, there is 17 percent growth in the Indian market for smartphones. Following this, in the April to June quarter, about 2.75 crore smartphones were sold. Importantly, Chinese smartphone makers like Lenovo, Giome, Livo, etc are some of the brands that saw excellent sales.

In the past two years, the sales here in India has seen a dip. In the present year, 2.35 crore smartphones got sold. During the same period in 2015, 2.65 crore smartphones got sold.

Samsung has acquired 25.1 percent of sales in the market and stands atop in first place. This is followed by Micromax with 12.9 percent sales. Lenovo holds 7.7 percent sales, Intex with 7.1 percent, and Reliance Jio with 6.8 percent. About 3.37 crore other phones of ordinary brands are sold too. This is 2.6 percent higher than previous year.

Catering to the consumer needs, there are good sales with other ordinary brands as well. As they can have good profit with sales of such ordinary phones, retailers show interest in selling them too. This is one main reason for the significant surge in sale of such ordinary phones.

In the third quarter, there are a number of festivals coming in and hence a surge in sale is likely, said a recent research. Smartphone sales keep dwindling every year. However, there is 75 percent increase in sales of smartphones of Lenovo, Livo, and Giome brands, to note. As far as sales of china models are concerned, there is 28 percent hike in sales of Lenovo.
