Rank list for MBBS/BDS seats released today

Rank list for MBBS/BDS seats for the academic year 2016-17 was released today. The counselling will begin on 20th of this month. A total of 2,853 MBBS seats will be available at the government medical colleges and through seats surrendered by self-financing colleges for students this year.
Of the 26,017 applications received by the DME, 25,814 applications were found eligible and taken for generation of random number. Random number was released on 13th June. Students could check their random numbers on the websites www.tnhealth.org and www.tn.gov.in by entering their acknowledgement registration (AR) number.
The cut-off for admission is calculated based on the percentage of marks secured by a candidate in Biology (100), Chemistry and Physics (100). In the event of a tie, candidates with higher marks in Chemistry get preference. If many students have the same scores, then the percentage in the fourth optional subject is taken into account. When many candidates are tied at one score even after this method, weightage is given to seniority in age, based on the date of birth. If a tie continues even after this exercise, the random number would be used.
C. Vijaya Bhaskar, the Health Minister today released the rank list for MBBS/BDS seats. He announced the names of students who got the first ten ranks. The first three ranks went to candidates with a cut off marks of 200 out of 200.The remaining 7 students scored cut off marks of 199.75.

Minister Vijayabhaskar after releasing the rank list said: MBBS/BDS counselling will commence at the Government Multi Specialty Hospital at Omandurar Estate on 20th for special category. From 21st to 25th, the counselling for general category will take place.
