DMK president M Karunanidhi has urged the student community and parents to make DMK`s July 29th demonstration seeking the immediate implementation of the uniform system of education (USE) on Friday, a grand success.
In a statement here on Wednesday, Karunanidhi traced the history of the implementation of USE in Tamil Nadu to 2010, during his party’s regime.
“The AIADMK Government was trying to make it appear as if the common syllabus scheme was implemented in haste,” he said, referring to the argument of the government advocate in the Supreme Court.
The plan went through various stages of scrutiny before it was implemented in 2010 for classes one and six. The law to bring uniform education was passed in 2010. It was preceded by scrutiny by various panels, Karunanidhi said.
Only after such an exhaustive four-year preparatory work was the scheme implemented. It also overcame legal hurdles in courts, he noted.
“It is two months now since schools reopened. However, the State Government is not bothered and is adamant. That is the reason as to why the DMK has announced a stir on July 29. College and school students have been urged to show their protest by boycotting classes,” Karunanidhi said.
