Schools asked to submit students details in order to issue free bus passes

Metropolitan Transport Corporation officials have asked all the schools to submit the students’ details in order to issue free bus passes.
After the summer vacations, the schools have been reopened in Tamil Nadu. Transport Corporation has permitted the students to use their old passes till the new passes are issued. Now the school and the transport authorities are busy in the work connected in issuance of free passes.
Last year nearly 27 lakh bus passes were issued. For this academic year, it has been decided to issue 27 lakhs bus passes.
An official of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation said, Students from government and government aided schools studying from 1st standard to plus 2 are being issued free bus passes. This year we are making lots of efforts to issue the bus pass at the earliest. We will be soon holding talks with the school authorities and transport corporations. School authorities can collect the bus pass applications in their concerned transport corporation. Those of the schools situated in Chennai can collect the applications from Pallavan House. The application can also be downloaded in www.mtcbus.org. Passes will be issued immediately once the school authorities give the students details.
