NPPA cuts prices of 24 essential medicines

National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has cut prices of 24 more essential medicines by up to 30 percent. National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority is monitoring the prices of medicines. National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has controlled the prices of 700 essential medicines.
 
Now, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has fixed the ceiling price of 27 drug formulation packs, including those used for the treatment of bacterial infections, diabetes and epilepsy.
 
The drug regulator has drastically reduced prices of antibiotics like cefixime and the amoxicillin-clavulanic acid combination. Used to treat a variety of ear, sinus, throat, urinary tract and respiratory tract infections, the two are among the most popularly prescribed molecules in India.
