Election Commission special arrangements - facilities on election (summer) day

As the election day is scheduled on 16th May, when scorching summer heat will prevail, the Election Commission has given due consideration to the voters who will suffer from the oppressive heat and is planning to provide some facilities for relief.
In the 1st phase, there will be a change from the prevailing routine of voters made to stand in long queues - they will be provided with a waiting room with seats before casting their votes.
Tamil Nadu Election Commission Chief Officer Mr. Rajesh Lakhoni informed that the Election Commission has ordered for facilities to be provided to the voters. As per this, shamianas (shelters) will be put for the voters to provide shadow from the scorching sun. Drinking water or drinking water packets will be given. If the voting centre has more rooms, they will be converted into waiting halls for the voters. When the number of the waiting voters reduces, sms will be sent to the other pending voters.
These are all the efforts taken by the Election Commission to achieve 100 percent voting. The arrangements to provide facilities for relief from the scorching summer is one on the measures taken by the Election Commission.
