At least half an hour a day spent not working at the office

According to a paper published by the National Bureau of Economic Research, very few people work full eight hours in an office. The work day has coffee breaks, water cooler chats, texts and emails. The paper says that at least half an hour a day is spent on these activities and not actually working.

The paper says that the belief that long working hours aren`t necessarily productive is proved here. On an average, workers say that they spend around 34 minutes a day of company time on non work activities.

It`s difficult to concentrate at work for eight hours, but with six hours you can be more focused and get things done more quickly, says one of the business owners. More companies are now looking at having six hour working days to achieve better productivity.
