New facility: Items ordered online can be received from Metro Rail Stations

A plan is being arranged to for the customers to receive the items they had ordered online from the Metro Rail stations at their own convenience.
There has been a phenomenal day-by-day increase in the number of persons preferring to order items online. As they can sit at the house or wherever they are and have a close look at the items and select from the variety available and buy them at discounted prices, more and more people prefer to order and buy items online.
Generally, couriers receive these items ordered online and deliver them at the buyers addresses after getting a certain payment for this service.Some companies offer free delivery as well.
However, when there are instances that both husband & wife are working and hence not available in their residence when the delivery person arrives, they cannot take delivery of the ordered items. This ends up in unnecessary time delay.
In order to avoid such situations, if the buyer informs about the nearest metro station location while ordering and ask for the items to be delivered there, the online agency will arrange to send it the specified Metro Station and inform the buyers.
The buyer can then go to the station as per his/her own convenience and show the necessary proofs and receive the ordered items.
This arrangement is already available in Delhi Metro stations. This has turned out to be hugely popular. So, Chennai Metro Rail has also decided to introduce this facility in Metro Stations.
When enquired about this facility, the Metro rail Authorities explained that the trend of ordering and buying items online has been increasing at a tremendous rate. Hence, a detailed circular has been received from Delhi
Metro Rail Authorities regarding setting up special counters at the Metro Stations so that buyers can visit and receive the ordered items at their own convenience.
Discussions are being conducted about this. The 1st phase of discussions are under way, This arrangement would earn some revenue for Metro Rail as well. The passengers/buyers can also receive their items without the exertion of exertion of extra travel & time.
However, this facility would be implemented only after the Metro Rail system is linked to other most important stations like Chennai Airport, Central & Egmore Railway Stations.
