The residents of Paramankeni, located close to the backwaters of Mudaliarkuppam on East Coast Road face extreme hardship and fear while travelling to the other parts of ECR.

They have to take a hazardous ride on a dilapidated narrow bridge across South Buckingham Canal in order to avoid a detour.

Now, there is good news for these residents. After 7 years of delay, the Rs. 9 Crore project to rebuild the bridge across the 70-metre-wide canal is expected to be started in 2 months. It is expected to be completed in 6 months.

This bridge has been the sole means of connectivity for the residents to other parts of east Coast.Several schoolchildren and over 1500 families of Maduvankarai & Seekanankuppam take this 30-year old bridge every day.Residents have been demanding early completion of the rebuilding work.
